Purscents Aromatherapy Scented Candles

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself getting creative to boost my mood and break up the monotony of being stuck indoors all the time. I dabbled in painting and even tried my hand at growing vegetables. But you know what? I also discovered a newfound passion for burning candles, which had a wonderfully positive impact on my mood. I ended up accumulating quite a few unused jars, and eventually had to throw some of them away when I had no use for them. This bothered me to be honest.

In the summer of 2021, my husband and I went on a weekend away and enjoyed afternoon tea in a garden café. The delightful scents surrounding us, including blooming roses, fresh lavender, zesty lemongrass, and calming chamomile and elderflower aromas, transported me to a beautiful rural setting. Inspired by those complex scents, I decided to recreate them in our home as a reminder of that moment. This is when the concept for our aromatherapy brand was born.

Drawing inspiration from nature’s bountiful gifts and fuelled by a strong desire to create a sustainable brand, I launched Purscents in September 2022 to create a luxury fragrance brand that could make a positive impact in the candle industry.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our entire line of products is made from plant-based ingredients and scented with 100% essential oils and plant extracts. We only use vegan and cruelty-free materials that are biodegradable. This impacts profit but that's a sacrifice we are willing to make. We are also aware that certain essential oils are still being produced in an unsustainable manner from dwindling resources, which is why we avoid using them in our blends wherever feasible in favour of more sustainable alternatives. For example, we use Sandalwood Amyris as a substitute for East Indian Sandalwood and Rose Geranium as a substitute for Damask Rose. Our packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable and we are dedicated to educating customers how to reuse our vessels and bottles.

Our candles are made with 100% rapeseed and coconut blend wax, and cotton wicks coated in vegetable wax. The candle wax is blended in Europe and free from paraffin, soy, palm, beeswax, and synthetic additives. The coconut used in the waxes comes from smallholder farmers in the Philippines or Indonesia and no forests are cleared in order to plant new coconut trees. All their farming contacts are closely monitored in that regard.

Our high quality food safe borosilicate jars and bottles are easy to repurpose as the perfect storage in the home or reused with our candle refill kits.

Our cylinder tubes are made without plastic film lamination and are printed with soy ink. We do not use single-use plastic in any of our packaging or send out printed dispatch notes in any of our deliveries.
