Fair Trade Artisan Planters
Wildlife World
The stunning new Artisan Hanging Basket range made from Hogla, a type of seagrass that is considered a weed, and recycled saris are Fair-Trade products that help the disadvantaged women in Bangladesh who make them by hand.
Hanging Baskets are a new sector for Wildlife World, however, we believe the back story of our Artisan Bird Nesters is so strong that customers will love to have these beautiful hand-crafted items inside their homes as well as outside for their gardens. The planters come in two sizes in each of the cylinder and cone shapes – medium and small, and come with a fitted second-life plastic liner, so you can plant directly into the basket.
Every planter is unique and individual in colour and just like the bird nesters that we have sold thousands of, every purchase of these new hanging planters and bee nesters helps fund families in Bangladesh out of poverty.
Materials Description
The Fair Trade Artisan Planters have a sturdy metal inner frame for support. Handmade to the highest quality finish using natural hogla grass and recycled saris.(Hogla is a type of grass that abundantly grows in Bangladesh and is used as a material for baskets, cushions and placemats. Hogla grass regularly causes problems near the shores as it can overgrow whole harbors, rivers and ponds. This material is considered a weed and the local villagers remove it.)
