Tell us about your business
Shroot is a business based in Bristol and specialises in creating and selling unique gifts that grow. Our first product, Greens & Greetings, was released in January 2021. They’re greeting cards that contain everything needed to grow microgreens – including the pot. Following the success of our Greens & Greetings, we launched another eco-friendly product; Wildflower Wishes. They are unique gift sets which include wildflower seed papers. You write your wishes on the papers, plant them, and then watch your wishes grow into beautiful bee-friendly flowers. In the short time we’ve been going we’ve won the Rising Star Award at the Wales Startup Awards in 2021 and Gift of the Year Awards 2022 in the Cards & Wrap category. We're currently undergoing a serious rebranding!
Tell us about the products you have entered
This year we submitted both of our products for consideration. We drastically redesigned our Greens & Greetings greeting card to be more appealing and streamlined for customers and recipients alike. We're also now up to 10 different designs, including our new personalised option! Our new entry is our most recent product, the Wildflower Wishes. Wildflower Wishes are a unique and sustainable seed-based gift, created to inspire people to reach for their dreams and help their local wildlife in the process. Bees and butterflies love nectar-rich wildflowers.
Why did you choose to enter the GOTY competition? have you entered in the past and has it helped your brand grow?
We had the honour of being chosen as a winner in the Cards & Wrap category at Gift of the Year 2022. This accolade enabled us to gain entry into numerous stockists and also provided us with invaluable feedback. We are now delighted to be stocked in over 100 independent shops and garden centres across the UK!
What other products will you be bringing to market in 2023
In January 2023, we will be launching our new personalised product, Greens & Greetings greeting cards. Customers will be able to pick their own images and text to be printed on their card, and then send it to either themselves or the intended recipient. Additionally, we are looking to enter the B2B market by providing companies with this product as an alternative to branded pens and tote bags to hand out at trade shows and expos. It's an exciting time for us!
