After running one of the best Escape Room branches in the UK for years (currently ranked within the UK top 10), gaining a deep understanding of game design and puzzle development and narrative building... Covid 19 hit.
With everyone stuck inside, my brain began to itch. And from that, I began working on recreating the Escape Room experience at home.
Everyone at Escape Envelope (albeit it's really just 3 people) is incredibly lucky to have found each other working in the Escape Room industry through our passion for escape rooms, games, and puzzles. Through Escape Envelope, we get to harness that passion.
First came Lock Ness, about trying to save a professor in search of a secret cave beneath Loch Ness. Then we released Disappearance at Blackridge, where you uncover the truth behind an island community that vanished overnight. And now we are heading to the deeper parts of Scotland for our newest game; one of paranormal mystery, death, and perhaps something darker...
A HAUNTING IN THE HIGHLANDS
"You step out of the car into the cold Scottish air and look up at Castle MacDuglan against the moonlight. Every window is lit up and the sounds of merriment can be heard over the rain. Tonight is a celebration, a new heir is set to inherit the castle and all the power that the family possesses.
Not everyone is in the mood though.
Turns out, the last three inheritors, have died under mysterious circumstances, and the family have used their considerable wealth and influence to cover it up.
A vengeful spirit? A family curse? Or murder fuelled by greed?
After the latest death, where one Johann MacDuglan apparently cut his own throat and threw himself off the balcony in the grand hallway, the heir apparent has called upon you to investigate, and solve the case before the same fate befalls him.
As the family gather to honour the transfer of the clan estate, you arrive to question them.
Good luck detectives."
Each of our games contain 10 puzzles, ranging from easy, to hard but overall the experience is designed for teams of 1-8 players of a mix of ages.
Everything you need is contained inside the envelope itself, with the exception of a smart phone where you will need to go online to enter codes, get hints, play out the end game scenario, and for "Haunting in the Highlands " read witness statements, go through emails, interview family members and investigate the potential murder!
